What are Doctor Gordon’s credentials?
Doctor Gordon grew up in Manhattan and is a graduate of Horace Mann, Yale University, NY Downstate Medical Center and Schneider Children’s Hospital. He has been a practicing physician in Manhattan/Long Island since 2001. Doctor Gordon is a board certified pediatrician who is on staff at Cornell, Lenox Hill, Mount Sinai and NYU Hospitals. He is the only pediatrician in the country who provides 24/7 pediatric care at home.
Why was Pediatrics to Go started?
Pediatrics to Go began as attempt to better meet the needs of Doctor Gordon’s Manhattan-based patients both in the Hamptons and after hours in Manhattan. Doctor Gordon firmly believes that no child should ever have to unnecessarily go to the hospital or suffer through the night until a pediatric office opens the next morning. Even during the day, it seems counterintuitive that an ill child must leave the comfort of home and wait for treatment in an office surrounded by other children. As a child growing up in Manhattan, Doctor Gordon has not forgotten the pediatrician visiting him at home. With this in mind, Doctor Gordon is always there for your family when your child is ill.
What areas does Pediatrics to Go service?
24 hour house calls are available in select areas of Manhattan and the Hamptons.
What are the benefits of membership?
Membership is limited to 200 families (the average New York pediatrician maintains a patient base of 3000 patients). This enables Doctor Gordon to provide reliable personalized services for his members. In order to fulfill his commitment to his patients, only members get guaranteed house call service, 24 hours a day. Members can contact Doctor Gordon directly (no service or nurse) 24/7. Only members are provided with Doctor Gordon’s email address which they use for routine questions. For members, Doctor Gordon also treats parents when their children inevitably get them sick.
Are there other membership options?
Doctor Gordon maintains a select number of exclusively phone/email members for patients who are out of the service area, or if membership is full.
How much does a membership cost?
A full membership costs less than a cup of coffee a day.
How do I become a member?
To find out if there is availability, or to put your name on a waiting list, you can email info@nypediatricstogo.com.
What if I am not a member?
Service is currently open to the public during the summer in the Hamptons. Though Doctor Gordon cannot guarantee service to non-members, he will make every effort to see your child if he or she is ill. If your child needs to be seen, Doctor Gordon can be reached by phone.
How much do visits costs?
There is a flat rate for members and it is no higher then a regular office visit.
Do you accept any insurance plans?
We do not accept insurance, but all visits can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement rates are the same as for office visits. They can be as high as 80-100% depending on your plan and deductible.
Do you provide check-ups as well as sick visits?
Yes. Check-ups at home include vaccines, weight, height, head circumference, scoliosis tests, developmental assessment tests, vision screening, hearing tests, blood and urine tests.
Can you do the same tests at home as in the office?
All tests done in the office are available at home. This includes but is not limited to Rapid Strep/Flu/RSV/Covid and urine tests (results in two minutes). Blood work, urine and Strep cultures can also be done.
Do you perform covid/coronavirus testing and what is the cost?
Yes, we perform covid testing, prices are as follows:
87635 Covid PCR Test, $280
99000 Specimen handling fee to collect a nasopharyngeal specimen for PCR to send to an outside lab for processing, $80
What if my child needs to go to the hospital?
Doctor Gordon is on staff at Cornell, Lenox Hill, Mount Sinai and NYU Hospitals. In addition to seeing babies at these hospitals, he can arrange direct admission (bypassing the emergency room) for ill children. Doctor Gordon is able to do this since he personally assesses sick children at night. Bypassing the emergency room helps ease an already traumatic experience. Families don’t have to wait to be treated and assessed by a doctor in training. Coordinated efforts can be arranged at other area hospitals.
What if my child already has a pediatrician?
For many members Doctor Gordon serves as their primary pediatrician. For these members, he does complete check-ups at home. Other members have a different primary pediatrician but use Doctor Gordon for emergencies, after hours and weekend care and questions (phone and email), or in the Hamptons. In fact, Doctor Gordon regularly accepts referrals from area pediatricians. He will confer and follow-up with your primary pediatrician.
